Mediation and Arbitration
Arbitration is a form of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). It is a legal technique to resolve a dispute outside the courts that is legally binding. All parties in a dispute agree to be bound by the decision of the arbitrator.
Mediation is another form of ADR and is a form of settlement negotiation where a neutral third party expert reviews the case and is typically non-binding.
Tom Brown is an experienced Arbitrator and Mediator. As a former judge, he exercised these skills on a daily basis in court and now does the same in private practice. He has also been appointed a Special Master by the court on occasion. Special Masters are assigned by the judge to help manage the discovery process on complex litigation cases.
